Hello from Sian

I'm Sian Tobin. I'm a mum of two boys. My passion for supporting young people to access education stems from my many years working in primary education, but most importantly from raising my own dyslexic / autistic son.

I am determined to offer a flexi-education alternative to those finding mainstream education challenging.

My Story

After 15 years of working as a primary school teacher, I have grown tired of seeing some children struggle in an education system that is neither supportive nor structured to their needs.

This isn't just an academic interest for me. I am dyslexic, was raised by a dyslexic dad and have two children - one of whom is dyslexic too. Dyslexia is far more common than people realise and frequently runs in families. I personally struggled at school as it wasn't tailored to my needs.

People with neurodiversities achieve great things - whether it's people with dyslexia, autism, ADHD or any other spectrum disorder. However, when they do, it's despite having to work against a system that is unfairly weighted against them. I have professional experience of supporting a wide range of neurodiverse children. My work is not just about helping these children cope with the demands of the educational system. It's aboiut empowering them to cope with the demands of life after they leave school.

Our family transplanted ourselves into West Yorkshire some years ago and, when I'm not helping fellow dyslexics, I enjoy standup comedy. I'm also a a moderately obsessive baker and nothing makes me happier than walking Blaze, my mad Spaniel, across the beautiful Yorkshire countryside.... and his annoying younger sister Oreo, the Sproodle.

"Sian provides a warm safe for my child to flourish. I can't recommend this service highly enough."
"When my child first came to Sian, they were struggling to access the curriculum and we have been blown away by the progress our child has made"
It was such a relief to speak to a teacher who had first hand experience of our situation.

Sian helped us move our child's learning forwards.
